April 21, 2008 - Adrian, Michigan Top 5 Finish for Team MatherMotorsport at the Grattan Good Times Nationals!
The 2008 SCCA National SpecMiata racing season is finally under way as Team MatherMotorsport visits Grattan Raceway for the Good Times Nationals.
The weekend started on Friday with the test and tune day. Phil Mather's father and Crew Chief, Bruce, was on hand to help throughout the weekend. Phil was up to speed quickly, equaling his fastest times at the track from last year.
After a dry qualifying session on Saturday, the weather turned cold and rainy for Sunday's race. Racing in the rain presents a whole new challenge. Just imagine driving on snow and ice covered roads while inches away from cars in front, behind, and next to you in white out conditions. Even with rain tires, the racecar wants to slide in the turns and skid while braking.
Phil used all of his skill dealing with the traffic and track conditions to finish the race in fourth position in class, without a new scratch on it.
This season promises to be exciting and successful as Team MatherMotorsport races its way to the national championships. CG-Lock, Royal Purple, SeatSnug, Detroit Dyno and Carbotech have continued their support for 2008. With their help, Team MatherMotorsport will charge their way to the top of the standings in their bid for the national championship.
